How to start playing Bethlehem317

Download the client

It's free. Pick the file for your computer:

There is no Android or iOS version, so open this page on your computer to download.

Open it on Windows, Mac or Linux

Windows

Run Bethlehem.exe. If you would rather use the Jar, it works on Windows too.

Mac and Linux

1. Install Java from java.com.
2. Right-click BethlehemClient.jar and choose to open it with Java.
3. If your Mac says the file is from an unidentified developer, right-click it again and choose Open.

You only download it once: the client grabs new game files by itself whenever an update drops.

Make your account and claim your free rank

There's no sign-up page. On the login screen, type the username and password you want (names are 1 to 12 characters): if the name is free, your account is created and you're logged straight in. Pick Regular, Ironman or Ultimate Ironman, type ::accept for the rules, and you're in. Keep your password safe, since there's no website account to reset it from.

Then grab your free Donator rank:

1. Type ::email in game and enter your email address on the page that opens.
2. Your code arrives by email, usually within 15 to 20 minutes. Type ::redeem followed by your username and the code (use _ for any spaces in your name).

That unlocks ::yell, Ctrl+B banking in most areas, and the Donator zones and bosses.

Playing Ranged? The wiki says ::ref free gets you a free Royal Minigun.

The starter quest: defeat Nex

Nex is your first real boss fight. The wiki's Starter Guide has every detail and there's a video walkthrough. Here's the route:

1. Type ::train and kill the dragon Zirconis ten times. That gets your combat stats high enough to open the Bethlehem Box, which has the gear you need to start.
2. Press Ctrl+T, or use Monsters Teleport in the spellbook, and choose melee, ranged or magic by picking a low tier monster. Kill it ten times.
3. Move up to the mid tier and then the high tier monsters, ten kills each. The Monster Keys they drop open the Burnt Chest at home.
4. Keep your bones and offer them at the altar at ::home. Nex needs 99 Prayer: kill Le'Fosh for a free Super Donator Scroll, then train Prayer on Frost Dragons in the Super Donator Zone.
5. Collect the high tier monster's drops (check them with ::log) until you hit 900 in one combat style, which you can check with ::maxhit.
6. Fight Nex: kill its four followers in the corners first, and use Deflect Magic and Turmoil.

Your reward: Nex drops the Bling Chain, the necklace you'll wear until you get one with the collector effect.

After Nex

Nex down? Now set your sights on the big one: the Shadowlord. On the way there, jump into:

• Raid Events (join from anywhere with ::joinevent) and Global Bashes hosted by staff.
• Achievements, daily tasks, the 7-day login rewards and the 30-day boss rewards.
• Slayer, then Duo Slayer with a friend.
• The raids, Titans and the Bethlehem Battleground. See all features.
• Money-making and gear guides on the forums and the wiki.
